While choosing the software for different purposes,
one of the important criteria of selection is portability. Whenever possible, I
always prefer software which is naturally free for general use and which does
not require installation on the Hard Drive. That allows decreasing the clutter
on the disk and in the registry, and allows carrying the utility anywhere on
USB thumb drive.
The problem is that not every developer invests additional
time and resources on building portable utility even when that is doable.
But, there is a solution for that as well. Cameyo is
a free application virtualization product. The state of the art application
virtualization technology packages any applications into a single standalone
executable, eliminating the need to install.
Cameyo creates a virtual application - a single .EXE
file that holds an entire application, including files, DLLs and registry.
Virtual apps can be copied & moved around like regular files and launched
from anywhere without installation: home, office, Dropbox, USB disk-on-key,
laptop, network shares.
The main product is free software virtualization
utility, but if that would be the only company offering, I would rather post
this review on my Freeware Blog.
But Cameyo offering free online services to perform
the same operation remotely through the virtual service. You just need to
create a free account and submit the installation packager you need to convert
to portable, and you will get the package you are looking for. Simple and
straightforward…

Before submitting the installer, I would recommend
to browse the library of applications, which were already portabilized by other
users: http://online.cameyo.com/library.aspx
